What a wonderful story! It's great to know that there are still people out there who are willing to help strangers. :*)

What a wonderful story with an universal theme. I am sure that most of us has hesitated reaching out at one time or another. This story is a great reminder to take a deep breath, put your fears aside and "just do it".

What a wonderful message this story has! Sometimes we forget that we can be a blessing to others in need.

Very touching story...it was touching enough even without the part about the gun (which seems a little over the top...but if it's true and based on a true story, then I guess it should be in there).

I often find myself editing my interactions with others, worried at how I'll be perceived. This story was a reminder that I should reach out more often; the worst that can happen if I do far outweighs the worst that can happen if I don't.

I'm going to get my one criticism out of the way first: the overuse of the name Richard in the story.

That being said, with a bit of rewrite this is a powerful example on how we should be connected in life. Something I think has been lost, and this is a powerful reminder that we should stretch our boundaries and reach out to others.
