What is a Thin Thread®? A Thin Thread is defined as a moment, event, setback, crossroad, or encounter that connected you to a person, place or an opportunity that changed your life for the better.
What are we looking for? Thin Threads® - the inspiring new book series about true life-changing moments is now seeking stories for its upcoming editions.
Business & Career: Stories in this category will include life changing moments (dismissals, closures, catalysts) that cause career transition which are transformative in opening new opportunity and renewed or reawakened passion. For example, a sudden job layoff that led to the start of a successful business or decision to pursue an original dream.
Recovery & Survival: Stories in this category will capture the victory of overcoming life’s physical, mental or emotional challenges. For example, a person is involved in an accident or learns of her/his disease and renews her family or friendships which offers true life fulfillment.
Compassion & Giving: Stories in this category will portray the humanity and possibility for life changing moments due to acts of kindness, charity or generosity. For example, taking in a hurricane victim, or reaching out to a stranger in need, and ultimately restoring his/her humanity or saving a life.
Holidays & Celebrations Stories in this edition will include heart-warming, life-changing moments that the reader would want to read on special days such as Anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Mothers Day, or a Holiday. For example, a parent-child story where family renewed or enriched their relationship at a particular moment or time of crisis, celebration or transition.
Love & Romance Stories in this edition will touch the hearts of readers who relate to the beauty in a real life love encounters. For example, a missed plane or late in life surprise meeting connects a couple whose story brings us tears of joy and belief in the power of love.
Teachers & Mentors Stories in this edition will inspire people to look for and appreciate all the significant role models in their lives. For example, a teacher who believed in his/her pupil when no-one else did and is integral in shaping his/her destiny.

What is the deadline for submission? All stories must be received by no later than Wednesday July 15, 2009.
What is the prize? Authors whose stories are selected for publication will be paid $100 per story
(No limit on stories). Stories will be selected based upon the actual emotional impact of a life changing moment. The Thin Threads® editorial team may rewrite the story for excellent craftsmanship.
One first prize winner will receive two Air France tickets to Europe. (Certain restriction apply) Runners up winners will also receive prizes for American Express Gift Certificates. In addition, author’s names and bios will be published in the book and on the Thin Threads website.

Air France tickets are valid from 9/2/2009 – 3/31/2010 from the USA to Air France cities in Europe (airline tickets cannot be used for travel to Asia or Middle East) Trip must commence no later than 3/31/2010. Blackout dates – 12/15/2009-1/4/2010. Air France tickets has no cash value.
