While I liked the general message, the rule-follower in me was a bit uncomfortable with the leaving early and not giving two weeks' notice. Perhaps a bit more background and maybe some negative behavior from the manager would have put me more at ease...but I'm weird that way, I guess...

Your writing style rocks! Very prosaic without being too wordy. You paint a picture but with a small, subtle brush. One of my favorites...

I love the "Aha" moment and having worked in food service myself, what a highlight it would be to watch the drunken after-hours crowd pound on the drive-up window waiting for service from a person who is no longer there to deal with their rudeness and snyde remarks. Fantastic story!
